API 529 Stereo Compressor

The API 529 Stereo Compressor brings the iconic sound of the API 2500 Stereo Bus Compressor into the compact 500 Series format. Designed for a wide range of compression applications, the 529 delivers warmth, punch, and clarity, making it a versatile tool for both subtle dynamic control and heavy compression effects.

Its advanced features, such as the patented THRUST® switch, allow frequency-dependent sidechain control, while the Old/New switch offers a choice between classic vintage-style feedback compression and more modern feed-forward compression.

With fully variable controls for Gain, Threshold, Attack, Ratio, and Release, the 529 gives users precise control over their compression settings. The unit also includes dual 10-segment LED meters for gain reduction and selectable input/output levels, as well as an Over Threshold indicator for easy visual monitoring.

The API 529’s audio path incorporates API’s legendary discrete 2520 and 2510 op-amps and a transformer-balanced output stage, ensuring a warm, musical, and transparent sound.

The API 529 is built to fit into two adjacent 500 Series slots, offering the flexibility of the 500 format while delivering API’s renowned analogue sound. Whether used for tracking, mixing, or stereo bus duties, the API 529 Stereo Compressor adds a professional and musical touch to any signal chain.
