The Solid State Logic Alpha 8 is a professional 8-input, 8-output analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue converter, created to expand your studio’s capabilities with the renowned SSL sound and build quality. Developed from the respected Alpha Link series, Solid State Logic Alpha 8 can operate as a high-quality ADAT and S/PDIF converter, or be configured as a complete 18-input, 18-output USB-C audio interface. It features state-of-the-art 32-bit / 192 kHz converters that deliver outstanding dynamic range, ultra-low total harmonic distortion plus noise, and virtually no crosstalk, making it an ideal tool for integrating analogue outboard processors, synthesisers, samplers and drum machines into your studio workflow with uncompromised audio quality.
Each of the eight balanced analogue inputs and outputs features individually adjustable operating levels of +9 dBu, +18 dBu, +20 dBu or +24 dBu. This ensures precise level matching with any connected hardware, whether it be vintage synthesiser modules, professional 500 Series gear, high-end analogue mixers or monitor controllers. On the digital side, Solid State Logic Alpha 8 includes 8 channels of ADAT input and output and 2 channels of S/PDIF, with word clock input and output available for stable and jitter-free digital integration within larger systems.
When used in USB mode, Solid State Logic Alpha 8 becomes a full-featured 18-in/18-out audio interface, capable of managing both analogue and digital sources simultaneously. Its DC-coupled outputs make it especially appealing for electronic musicians, as these can be used to send control voltages to CV-enabled modular synthesisers, effects processors, or sequencer-driven hardware setups. ALPHA 8 also includes a high-current headphone output for confident monitoring of signal paths during tracking or mixing.
