SongBird Restaurant by Neil Perry

Case Study: SongBird Restaurant by Neil Perry, Double Bay

Ordio Productions was engaged to deliver an acoustic retrofit for SongBird Restaurant, Neil Perry’s Double Bay dining destination. Tasked with a sensitive brief by A C M E ® architecture + interiors, the solution required acoustic improvement without compromising the restaurant’s refined and contemporary design language.

To address this, Ordio introduced Autex ‘Vertiface‘ in the colour ‘Treehouse’ to soften the room’s structural columns. This fabric treatment, acting like a modern interpretation of wallpaper, added warmth and tactile contrast to the existing mirrored surfaces without interrupting the visual flow of the interior.

Up above, the restaurant’s striking ceiling lighting design demanded an equally considered acoustic approach. Ordio matched the ceiling’s aesthetic with 12mm Autex Cube panels in ‘Opera’, a highly discreet solution that blended effortlessly with the existing ceiling finish while delivering substantial acoustic benefits.

The result is a space where design remains paramount, but acoustic comfort has been dramatically improved. While the upgrade hasn’t become a visual talking point within SongBird, its impact is undeniable. Diners now enjoy a significantly more comfortable and controlled sound environment, and the subtle yet transformative treatment sets a new standard for managing acoustics in reflective hospitality interiors.
