API 525A FET Compressor

The API 525A is an updated version of the classic 1970s 525 compressor, featuring the original discrete audio path, 2510 and 2520 op-amps, and API’s custom transformers. It delivers vintage tone with modern versatility and the reliability expected from API.

API 525A FET Compressor

Originally introduced in the early 1970s and reissued more than two decades ago, the API 525 has earned its place as one of the most respected vintage-style compressors in the recording industry. The updated API 525A builds on the original’s renowned design, preserving its discrete audio path while expanding the feature set to meet the needs of today’s studio workflows.

The 525A maintains the distinctive sonic character of its predecessor through the use of API’s proprietary transformers and the discrete 2510 and 2520 op-amps. This combination delivers the warm, punchy sound that has become synonymous with API gear. Hand-assembled to API’s strict standards, the 525A offers the same durability, consistency, and longevity that define all of the company’s products.
