Cranborne Audio Camden EC1 is a compact, half-rack desktop unit that combines three essential tools into one portable chassis: the award-winning Camden preamp design, the Mojo analogue saturation circuit, and a reference-grade headphone amplifier with a discrete line mixer for zero-latency monitoring.

With up to 68.5 dB of ultra-clean gain, it delivers exceptional transparency while offering the option of adding controlled analogue colour, making it a powerful front end for musicians, engineers, podcasters, and voice-over artists.

At its core is the acclaimed Camden preamp topology, engineered to operate at the limits of noise, distortion, and frequency/phase linearity. In clean mode with Mojo bypassed, it captures microphones, instruments, and line-level sources with pristine accuracy. The high gain range makes it particularly effective for low-output ribbon and dynamic microphones, ensuring ample headroom in demanding sessions.

Engaging Mojo transforms the Cranborne Audio Camden EC1 into a versatile tonal tool, offering two distinct saturation styles. Thump excites low-end harmonics for transformer-like warmth and depth, while Cream introduces harmonics that soften transients and emulate the behaviour of vintage valve circuits. This flexibility allows anything from subtle harmonic enhancement to pronounced colouration.

The integrated reference-quality headphone amplifier delivers mastering-grade sound with true zero-latency monitoring. With up to 1.21 W per channel into 100 Ohms and a frequency response below 1 Hz to beyond 70 kHz, it drives any professional headphones with power and accuracy. Its built-in mixer enables real-time blending of preamp signals with DAW playback via rear-panel Aux inputs, ideal for custom artist cue mixes or precise evaluation of the preamp signal.

Connectivity is extensive, with balanced XLR and impedance-balanced 1/4″ outputs, a switchable –10 dB pad for low-headroom interfaces, and a Link output for DI and re-amping workflows. The C.A.S.T. port allows integration with Cranborne 500R8 and 500ADAT systems, sending preamp signals directly into 500 series modules while returning stereo mixes to the Cranborne Audio Camden EC1’s headphone outputs over a single Cat 5e/6/7 cable.

Compact and portable, the half-rack chassis of the Cranborne Audio Camden EC1 can also be rackmounted using an optional kit. Free from software and driver dependencies, Cranborne Audio Camden EC1 delivers pure analogue performance that will stand the test of time.
