The Solid State Logic Revival 4000 from SSL reproduces the iconic analogue sound and architecture of the 4000 B and E Series consoles, complete with transformer-balanced mic preamp, de-esser, compressor/gate, and dual-flavour EQ, in a compact 1U rack format. Designed for flexibility, it offers flexible routing, sidechain linking, and various dynamics and metering options.
The Solid State Logic Revival 4000 is a 1U, fully analogue channel strip by Solid State Logic (SSL), crafted to channel the storied tone of the 1980s SL 4000 Series consoles, including the B and E models that shaped countless iconic records.
Housed in a compact 19-inch rack unit, it brings quintessential SSL sonic character to modern studios, celebrating the legacy of artists such as Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Bryan Adams, Kate Bush, Pink Floyd, Prince, U2, and Metallica.
At its core, the Solid State Logic Revival 4000 integrates heritage circuitry: a Jensen-transformer-balanced mic preamp (from the E Series), the original B Series de-esser, the E Series discrete Class-A VCA compressor/gate dynamics section, and the revered four-band parametric E Series EQ.
You can switch between the classic “Brown Knob” (02) and “Black Knob” (242) EQ flavours, both offering high-pass and low-pass filtering with different curve slopes.
Flexible routing is built into the Solid State Logic Revival 4000, including a balanced insert point for external gear, an external sidechain (key) input, flexible processing order, and the ability to link sidechains across two units for stereo dynamics.
Additional features include soft-knee or hard-knee options, fast-attack dynamics, selectable logarithmic or linear release, line output trim, and switchable meters.
