Solid State Logic SSL 12 Audio Interface

The Solid State Logic SSL 12 is a fully featured 12-input, 8-output USB audio interface designed to bring professional-grade studio performance to desktop setups. Expanding on the foundation laid by the SSL 2 and SSL 2+, the SSL 12 offers increased input and output capability, improved audio performance, and deep software integration with SSL 360°, providing a comprehensive control environment for recording, mixing and production. It includes four SSL-designed microphone preamplifiers with a wide 62 dB gain range and extremely low noise performance, featuring an Equivalent Input Noise of –130 dBu. Each preamplifier also includes SSL’s Legacy 4K analogue colour enhancement, inspired by the iconic SSL 4000-series consoles.

The Solid State Logic SSL 12 supports full +24 dBu operating levels on all balanced line-level inputs and outputs, allowing seamless integration with professional outboard equipment and other studio devices. It uses advanced 32-bit converter technology to deliver more than 120 dB of dynamic range across the main outputs, ensuring exceptional clarity, stereo imaging and low distortion during monitoring and playback. An ADAT input allows expansion with up to 8 additional digital input channels, while front-panel instrument inputs and dual headphone outputs provide easy access and flexible monitoring options.

Solid State Logic SSL 12 includes two independent headphone outputs, each with three selectable operating modes to optimise performance for various headphone impedances. These outputs can also be reconfigured as additional mono line outputs if required. All routing, monitoring and loopback functions are controlled via the SSL 360° software environment, where users can build up to four separate near-zero latency cue mixes, assign functions to the three front panel user buttons, and select loopback sources for streaming and recording needs.

Other features include a built-in talkback microphone, full-sized 5-pin DIN MIDI input and output, DC-coupled outputs for sending control voltage signals to modular synthesisers and CV-enabled devices, and support for alternative speaker switching. The rear panel features Neutrik XLR combo inputs for microphones or line sources, TRS outputs for two stereo speaker sets, USB Type-C connectivity, and an on/off power switch.

Solid State Logic SSL 12 also comes bundled with the SSL Production Pack, a carefully curated software suite featuring virtual instruments, plug-ins, samples and a digital audio workstation to help users begin creating music immediately.
