The Tube-Tech SMC 2B Stereo Multiband Compressor offers precise control with variable crossover points for each of its three opto-compression bands. Each band has independent Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release, and Gain controls, making the SMC 2B both versatile and accurate.

The Tube-Tech SMC 2B divides the audio signal into three bands—Low, Mid, and High—using 6 dB/octave crossover networks with adjustable frequencies: 60-1200 Hz for the Low/Mid band and 1.2-6 kHz for the Mid/High band.

This crossover design ensures optimal summing of the three bands, achieving a flat frequency response (within +/-0.25 dB) when each band’s gain controls are set equally.

Each compressor band is equipped with Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release, and Gain parameters, along with a display showing gain reduction. The master levels are adjusted using Output Gain and Balance controls.

Both input and output are balanced, with fully floating transformers that include a static screen. The power supply and sidechain circuit are based on a solid-state design, with stabilised DC voltages for all stages except the output stage.
